Cutting Down Your Problems to Size

In my search for knowledge in the Bible and the lessons the Lord wants me to learn, I found a book titled The End Times in Chronological Order by Ron Rhodes, a very good book by the way.

At the very end of the book the author talks of the Renewed Universe or Revelation 21:1– The New Heaven. I quote, “and I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away”. Commentator William Hendrickson in that book explains it this way: “It is the same heaven and earth but gloriously rejuvenated, with no weeds, thorns, or thistles.”

This new earth is when God lifts the curse from Genesis 3:18: “Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shall eat the herb of the field.” This means the earth now will produce crops hampered by weeds and thorns. As we know working the fields has become a grinding toil, ask any farmer.

I was thinking of this story as I started working this morning on the small piece of land my wife and I are blessed to have. The field I was in needed weeding and I started pulling small sapling sticker bushes before they grow into a much bigger problem. The Lord reminded me just then that the new earth will be without weeds or stickers in it. (Oh, if that where true today). Sadly, we have to deal with sticker bushes in our world today, but if you deal with that problem early before they grow you can avoid a much bigger problem in the future.

He pointed out to me if you switched the example of your sticker bush problem for life’s more important problems or obligations in your life, dealing with them as they happen is easier then putting them off, making a much bigger problem in life.

I think the world would be a much better place if we all could do that. I thank the Lord for his teachings as I grow as a Christian.

All Glory to God
