Jesus paid the price for our release from sin and its consequences. (Matthew 20:28 “Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”) and (1 Timothy 2:6 “ Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”) His death was in exchange for our life. In fact scripture is quite clear in that redemption is only possible “through His Blood” that is by His death. (Colossians 1:14) “In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”
Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 26:28 “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” that the New Covenant, prophesied in Jeremiah 31:31-34, “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” was being forged in His blood. Paul told the elders of the church in Ephesus that the church had been purchased by the blood of the Lord (Acts 20:28). “ Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood.” He wrote that the redemption of sinful men and women depends on the propitiation Jesus made when He shed His blood (Romans 3:25). “Whom God hath sent forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.” To propitiate means to satisfy or to appease.
So it isn’t your goodness or the good works you do in life that will save you, if you really believe in this for your salvation you are lost!
The ONLY thing that can cleanse us from sin is the blood of Christ. ONLY through faith in His blood are we saved.
There can be NO other savior or god, but Jesus Christ!
(Acts 4:12) “ Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
I know the streets of Heaven will be filled with former captives who, through no merit of their own, will find themselves redeemed, forgiven, and free! Slaves to sin will become saints. No wonder we will sing a new song, a song of PRAISE to the Redeemer who was slain. (Revelation 5:9)
“And they sung a new song saying ,Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.” We born again Christians were slaves to sin, condemned to eternal separation from God. Jesus paid to redeem us, resulting in our freedom from the slavery of sin, and our rescue from the eternal consequences of that sin.
A few more things need to be done for salvation to be complete. Taking Jesus Christ as your savoir covers you in His blood and saves you. That we just went over, but after you are born again and saved, and only after being saved. You still need to be baptized ( full emersion) in water. Somewhere between being born again and being baptized the Holy Spirit comes into your body and guides you the rest of your life. The Holy Spirit is the best way to survive spiritually in this world for a Christian and is the only way to know God and His thoughts.
Salvation is a life and death matter in every ones life here on earth, take it seriously a lot is at stake!
I have much more on the topic of baptism and the Holy Spirit elsewhere on my blog if you’re interested.
Here is what salvation and taking the Lord as your savior = (life) looks like
Here is what unrepentant sin and rejection of the Lord = (death) looks like
Remember God told us that both of these will be forever, where are you going to spend eternity?
All glory to God
